Guidance in Battle
Proverbs 19-21; Romans 13
“Make plans by seeking advice; if you wage war, obtain guidance…The horse is made ready for the day of battle, but victory rests with the Lord.”
Proverbs 20:18; 21:31
Jesus declared he would build his Church, and the gates of hell would not prevail against it. Jesus is the commander of heaven’s army. His mission is to bring his kingdom to every nation, not through taking the lives of others, but through offering his own life as our sin-sacrifice that we might know peace with God. On the cross, Jesus defeated the powers of darkness by living in obedience to the will of his Father.
Are we seeking the guidance of the Father and the family of God in our spiritual battles?
If we rely on our plans and strategy-horses we will fail. If our dependence is on the Lord for counsel, guidance, and victory, we will prevail. The humility to seek the Lord’s counsel and the counsel of others who walk with God is one of our greatest weapons in battle.
“Lord Jesus, I trust your counsel and your church in the battles of this day…for your glory.”
