The Path of Peace

Genesis 1-2; Luke 1

“…for you will go on before the Lord to prepare the way for him, to give the people the knowledge of salvation through the forgiveness of their sins…to guide our feet into the path of peace.”

Luke 1:76-78

On what path will we choose to walk this year?

To what path will we call others to walk as we guide them?

John the Baptist was anointed by the Spirit to prepare the way for Christ’s first coming. We are called to prepare ourselves and others for Christ’s return. The path we are called to walk is the path of peace which to the Hebrew was Shalom. Peace was more than the absence of conflict. Shalom begins inside of us with the reality of Christ’s living presence filling us and giving us peace with God through the forgiveness of our sins. This is the knowledge of salvation that so many in our culture are trying to find, but they search in the wrong places. Jesus, the Prince of Peace, invites us to begin this year by choosing his Shalom and walking in this path each day.

“Lord Jesus, thank you this day, for forgiveness and peace in every area of my life. Thank you for your love and grace and joy. Thank you for the Holy Spirit who fills me with peace and guides my steps each day, for your glory.”
