Walking with God

 Genesis 3-5; Luke 2

“Then the man and his wife heard the sound of the Lord God as he was walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and they hid from the Lord God…”

Genesis 3:8

“And after he became the father of Methuselah…Enoch walked with God 300 years…Enoch walked with God; then he was no more, because God took him away.”

Genesis 5:22, 24

God’s practice was to walk with Adam and Eve in the cool of the day. In this way, God initiated relationship and intimacy with them. Adam was 622 years old when his descendant Enoch was born. Enoch also chose to walk with God following the birth of his son Methuselah. Perhaps God enjoyed walking with Enoch so much that he took him from this earth to be with him forever. Throughout history, countless others have found the life-giving practice of walking with God, listening to him, and sharing their hearts with the Lord God. Both Simeon and Anna participated in the celebration of Jesus Christ’s dedication at the temple because they, too, walked with God. We are prophetically alert and available to the Spirit of God when our spirit communes with him.

Will we choose to walk with God this year? It will change everything!

“Lord God, thank you for pursuing intimacy with me, and for walking with me. I choose to make time to listen and share my heart with you each day, for your glory.”
