Eyes Open
Judges 19-21; 2 Corinthians 4
“And even if our gospel is veiled it is veiled to those who are perishing. The god of this age has blinded the minds of unbelievers, so that they cannot see the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God…So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen...”
2 Corinthians 4:3, 4, 18
In battle, an enemy is quickly immobilized if they are blinded.
“For our struggle is not against flesh and blood…” (Ephesians 6:12). The god of this age has blinded the minds of unbelievers so they cannot see the light of the Gospel of the glory of Christ. The glory of Christ is his presence. Satan is trying to blind people to the good news that Christ’s very presence is now available within us through the Holy Spirit. As Christ-followers, we are called to see with the eyes of our heart and to fix our eyes on the unseen reality of what is above (Colossians 3:1). The god of this age wants our spiritual vision blocked, while God’s purpose is that we would live out of this unseen realm.
What is capturing our attention today?
“Lord Jesus, thank you for opening my eyes so I can see. I fix my eyes on you, for your glory.”
