The Lord’s Purposes
Proverbs 19-21; Romans 13
“There is no wisdom, no insight, no plan that can succeed against the Lord. The horse is made ready for the day of battle, but victory rests with the Lord.”
Proverbs 21:30, 31
Satan was convinced that by killing Jesus, he was destroying God’s kingdom-advance on earth. His plan only served God’s purposes to bring salvation to the world. No plan can succeed against the Lord. Lining up our ‘horses’ to accomplish our best use of resources in the battles we face is less helpful than calling on the Lord and fully surrendering to him. The Lord will show us how to join him in his battles, rather than us pleading with God for victory in our battles. When we live for Christ’s kingdom will to be done on earth as it is in heaven, we shift our focus from our mission strategies and kingdoms to the Lord’s.
Where is the Lord inviting us to shift our perspective, or focus, this day?
“Lord Jesus, I repent for my strategies and ask for your will to be done, for your glory.”
