The Sweetness of Wisdom

 Proverbs 22-24; Romans 14

“Eat honey, my son, for it is good; honey from the comb is sweet to your taste. Know also that wisdom is sweet to your soul;  if you find it, there is a future hope for you, and your hope will not be cut off.”

Proverbs 24:13, 14

Honey has anti-bacterial properties which aid the healing of wounds, in addition to its sweetness and flavor enhancing uses. Wisdom, like honey, brings much value when it flavors conversations, relationships, and our lives. Like honey, wisdom counteracts the infections of slander, gossip, and unforgiveness. The long-term benefit of wisdom, which begins with the fear of the Lord, is a future hope of eternity with God. This future hope is the word “tiquia”, or cord - a cord strong enough to hang onto in the most difficult moments of our lives. This hope, or cord, will not be cut off. It takes wisdom to find and hold on to hope. Jesus is our wisdom.

“Father God, thank you for your wisdom found in Christ and thank you for your hope this day, for your glory.”
