Are We Silent?

Esther 3-8; Luke 18

“For if you remain silent at this time, relief and deliverance for the Jews will arise from another place, but you and your father’s family will perish. And who knows but that you have come to royal position for such a time as this?”

Esther 4:14

“And will not God bring about justice for his chosen ones, who cry out to him day and night?...”

Luke 18:7

Esther obeyed her Uncle Mordecai by remaining silent about her Jewish origins and family story for many years - until the time came to speak. The courage for us to speak up about injustice in our story, or in our community, comes from God’s presence within us. Esther and Mordecai were joined by many Jews in fasting for three days before Esther petitioned the king. The strength to speak, and wisdom to know when and where to speak, were birthed in prayer. God invites his children to cry out to him as the King of kings, at any time of day and night. The courage to speak to authority on earth comes from our authority in heaven.

Are we silent, or have we found our voice?

“Lord Jesus, you are empowering me by your Spirit to intercede and advocate for those who have no voice, for your glory.”
