Our Delightful Inheritance
Exodus 33-34; Psalms 16; Acts 9
“Lord, you have assigned me my portion and my cup; you have made my lot secure. The boundary lines have fallen for me in pleasant places; surely I have a delightful inheritance.”
Psalm 16:5, 6
When we fully surrender our life, our will, our talents (not just our sins) to the Lord, it is the Lord who assigns us our portion, our cup, and our lot in life. We receive our allotment of spiritual gifts, assignments in Christ’s kingdom, and inheritance from the Lord. When we live in joyful surrender to the Lord’s will and ways, it is the Lord who delivers us from evil and makes our lot secure. When we live and serve within the boundaries and parameters of God’s call on our lives, there is grace and strength for all we are called to do and be. This life of loving surrender to the Lord is both pleasant and delightful. In exchange for making a name for ourselves, or fighting for our own inheritance, we receive the Lord’s name over our lives and his eternal inheritance for us. All these themes are found in the Lord’s Prayer and in the lives of those who walk with God.
“Lord God, all I have comes from you, for your glory.”
