The Lord’s Donkey and Colt
2 Samuel 8-9; 1 Chronicles 18-19; Matthew 21
“…Jesus sent two disciples, saying to them, ‘Go to the village ahead of you, and at once you will find a donkey tied there, with her colt by her. Untie them and bring them to me. If anyone says anything to you, tell him that the Lord needs them, and he will send them right away.’”
Matthew 21:1- 3
God prepared a donkey and her colt for his Son’s entrance into Jerusalem. First, they had to be untied, freed for a new assignment. The assignment would be to carry the presence of the King of kings and Lord of lords, much like our assignment as Christ’s disciples today.
Is there anything we must be freed from to carry the glory of God in our lives?
Are there any ties holding us back?
The Lord needs us for his assignments. There is urgency in this mission and the time is now. There is also great humility in this mission for which we are the donkey that is carrying the King. Today, freedom, urgency, and humility, still mark the mission of God and those who make themselves available to the King.
“Lord Jesus, I offer myself to you, for your glory.”
