My Deliverer
Ecclesiastes 4-6; Psalms 18; Ephesians 3
“I love you, O Lord, my strength. The Lord is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge. He is my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold. I call to the Lord, who is worthy of praise, and I am saved from my enemies.”
Psalm 18:1-3
Like Saul, David’s response to the threat of his enemies was not to engage in battle; but rather, to call out to the Lord for salvation. God was David’s strength, not his circumstances. The strongest symbol of protection in David’s context was a fortress. In our context it might be a lot of money, a secure job, or a nice home.
In the tests of life, what will save us?
David’s response to Saul’s attacks was to call on the Lord and enter the presence of God. It was God’s presence that gave David a “spacious place” to stand.
Where are we finding refuge in our tests?
To whom are we calling?
“Lord Jesus, you are my Rock, my fortress, and my deliverer. Thank you…for your glory.”
